Beekeeping Land for Sale

Land for Beekeeping

Bees are becoming a threatened species and we have a duty to encourage bee populations. Our Beekeeping Land is a small plot of land suitable for the placement of 4 bee hives, allowing each bee hive the recommended 25 sq ft of space. Our Beekeeping Land plots will be situated near to our orchards and allotments, giving the bees a great source of pollen. In addition each of our sites are planted with wild flowers and lavender bushes.

Beekeeping has positive ecological effect. Bees play an important role in the pollination of many flowering plants, thus increasing the yield of certain crops such as sunflower and various fruits. The honey they produce is a delicious and highly nutritious food.

You can be the owner of a beekeeping land plot for just £300, something you can keep forever and pass on to other family members.

Many Modern Flowers are not BEE friendly.

Over one hundred years ago, choosing plants and flowers that bees would like would have been a simple process choosing the most desirable plants which are open-pollinated; that is pollinated by insects, usually bees, which transfer pollen from flower to flower leading to fruit and seed set. Today we are faced with a huge number of plants and flowers that have been breed with certain characteristics such as dwarfing, colour larger blooms etc. These hybrid plants known as cultivars are propagated on a commercial scale by vegetative cutting, which means they are genetically identical. They no longer need pollinators; the majority of these, produce no nectar or pollen and most are sterile.

The few modern cultivars that do produce nectar, e.g. some modern lavender cultivars, their phytochemical constituents including nectar and pollen have been altered at a genetic level, and these are not as attractive to bees as the older and non-modified plants.

Raw honey has been for its health benefits throughout history. Many of these health benefits are specific to raw, or unpasteurized, honey.

Most of the honey you find in supermarkets is pasteurized. The high heat used in pasteurization kills unwanted yeast, can improve the color and texture of the honey but many of the beneficial nutrients are also destroyed in the process. Listed below are some of the many health properties of honey.

A good source of antioxidants

Raw honey contains an array of plant chemicals that act as antioxidants. Some types of honey have as many antioxidants as fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants help to protect your body from cell damage due to free radicals.

Raw honey nutrition

Raw honey’s nutrition content varies by its origin and other factors. Generally, one tablespoon or 21 grams of raw honey contains 64 calories and 17 grams of sugar.

Antibacterial and antifungal properties

Honey contains antibacterial and antifungal properties. The effectiveness as an antibacterial or antifungal varies depending on the honey.

Soothe a sore throat and cough

Honey is an old sore throat remedy that soothes the ache and can help with coughs. Add it to hot tea with lemon when a cold virus hits.
