Orchards for Sale

Investing in an Orchard

Owning your own orchard will give you and your family years of pleasure. Owning an orchard is also a solid investment for the future. We all know that land and property prices increase year on year. As the owner of an orchard the value of the land will continually increase over the years, as Mark Twain said “Buy land, they’re not making it anymore”

Owning an orchard is an even better investment than just owning land! Once your orchard is established it will give you a crop of fruit each and every year for the next 30-50 years. These crops can be sold to give you an income each year. The cost of fruit continues to rise and apples now cost anything from 50p to £1 each and this cost will only rise. In today’s market each matured apple tree will give you approximately £125 worth of apples every year.

The value of your orchard will increase each year as the fruit trees mature. Your orchard will be planted with 8-10 five to seven foot fruit trees, these cost approximately £70 each to purchase. In 5 years’ time these trees will be worth £350-£450 each. The value of these trees on their own at that time will be in the region of £3,000 – £4,000. If you would like us to plant larger more mature trees today, we can of course do this but it will nearly double the cost of your orchard.

You can choose a variety of fruit trees for your orchard, including apple, pear, plum and cherry to name but a few. Our standard orchard is planted with up to ten half standard apple and fruit trees per 1,000 sq ft of land. The apple trees we choose are renowned for the tasty apples they produce and also the quantity of apples produced by each tree when they are fully mature.

If you are looking for a high yielding orchard, we will plant mini apple trees that grow to a maximum of 2 meters high, so they are easy to manage and easy to pick fruit from. Each tree will produce between 150 and 250 apples a year when mature. These trees however do not increases in value in the same way as half standard trees do.

    Helping the Environment

If you are looking to own an orchard that you can also be used for leisure with your family, then you will need to have one which is planted with fewer trees and taller trees so that you can sit under them on a hot day. In this situation we recommend trees that grow to a height of 4-5 meters when mature (our half standard trees). You will be able to enjoy your orchard all year round and it will have plenty of room for you and your family and friends to visit and have picnics in or just relax.

Once you have agreed to purchase an orchard, one of our team will contact you to discuss what trees you would like planted and the design of your orchard. All planting and cost of our standard fruit tree range is included in your purchase price.

Small orchards such as these require minimal maintenance, during the first 12 months we will maintain the orchard on your behalf free of charge, in the second year you can either maintain it yourself or tell us what maintenance you would like and we will be able to assist you.

Orchards are great for the environment, the blossom on the trees is a wonderful pollen source for bees and of course each tree takes CO2 from the environment helping reduce your carbon footprint. In addition, we plant each orchard with wild flowers that attract butterflies and other insects greatly increasing the biodiversity in the area.
